The HSV aims to re-establish itself as a top team in the medium term. In order to achieve this objective, the club focuses on young talent promotion rather than hiring new players at great expense. The aim is to allow young players to integrate into the first team right beside the professional players. The decision makers are banking on a special concept to achieve this objective: the HSV campus in Hamburg’s Volkspark combines a boarding school, gyms and training rooms, offices, a lecture hall for 200 attendees, a canteen and a fan forum.
WK Consult deliverables:
The new young talent training centre of the Hamburg sport club HSV will be located in close proximity to the Volkspark stadium in Hamburg-Stellingen. Up to 16 talented players are scheduled to move into the new HSV flagship in the summer of 2017 and be developed into new winners.
The new build is located at the South-East entrance of the stadium, right beside the training grounds. The two-storey building spreads across approx. 1,900 m² with a parapet height of 13.20 m or 9.68 above ground level. Access to the building is provided via a staircase core with lift and a gallery in the atrium area. Part of the second floor is planned as a projecting facade construction.
The 4,600 m2 building is divided into a western, central and eastern section. Each section is earmarked for a different use.
